Dr. Marcia Scarpin is an Assistant Professor, Supply Chain Management Specialist, and Director of the at Concordia. She has taught for more than 10 years, from undergraduate to MBA and master levels. For Dr. Scarpin, teaching is what keeps the heart and soul of the professor alive, and conducting research keeps the mind active to create new knowledge to share and connect us to each other.
As a professor and woman, she believes that we live in unique times where questions about race, gender, and equality arise, and we cannot be left out of it. So, she attended a course, Women in Leadership: Program for Emerging Leaders, at Harvard Business School to integrate this perspective into her classes.
She has many awards and honors that represent her passion for teaching and researching, such as Best Learning and Education Research Paper by DSI Annual Meeting Award Winners, Emerging Economies Doctoral Student Award by the Production and Operations Management Society (POMS), and Outstanding Doctoral Research Awards by Emerald/EFMD.
She is a member of a Brazilian research group working on the global supply chains at the Center for Excellence in Logistics and Supply Chain (GVcelog) and the Innovation Center (FGVin) at FGV School. She is also a volunteer as a mentor at , dedicated to helping small businesses.
Her main research interests are in the global supply chain, supply chain risk management and resilience, and sustainable supply chains. Her research in these fields has been published in top-tier journals such as IJPE, PP&C, IQME, IJRDM, IJQRM, and others.
