I enjoy creating work that is non-functional and abstract. I'm attracted to this kind of work because of its useless nature. It is the lack of function that creates greater clarity in my search for unexpected beauty.

Artist Statement:

My work is highly influenced by early to mid 20th century modernist sculpture. Artists such as Noguchi, Smith, Arp, Duckworth, and Moore all inform me as I search for new ways of pushing clay into the sculpture world.

I want my artwork to encourage the viewer to look internally for meaning. Contextually my sculptures often address the human condition using color, forms, and the juxtaposition of size to explore themes of tension and harmony. Additionally, I address the human relationship with our environment by selecting compositions that probe the delicate balance between systemic understandings and the finite resources our natural environment can provide. Regardless of my artistic goals I ultimately want to communicate with the audience in a way that creates more questions than answers.
