Å·ÃÀÊÓƵ is adding a new minor in musical theatre performance to allow students to explore passions in both music and theatre. Students pursuing a minor in musical theatre performance will take classes in three disciplines: music, theatre, and dance.

“The new musical theatre performance minor is open to all students but is ideal for those interested in pursuing a career in the performing arts or directing or choreographing musicals,” said Christian Boy, director of theatre and associate professor of theatre art.

Music and theatre are both well-established programs at Concordia, and this new minor will strengthen and enhance the already existing collaboration between them by providing a streamlined program of study for students.

Students enrolled in this minor are encouraged to take advantage of all the opportunities music and theatre have to offer, including joining music ensembles and participating in Concordia’s mainstage theatre productions throughout the academic year.

Students who don’t intend to become professional performers can still benefit from the musical theatre performance minor by enriching their lives with the arts.

Graduates with this minor can apply the knowledge and skills learned to a variety of career paths, particularly as theatre directors or performers.
